For the first time, women in Iraq are in on the frontline of Iraq’s uprising, demanding fundamental rights, raising their voice clearly and loudly. After 17 years of oppression, violence and isolation, women are fighting side by side with men to make change. It is a remarkable development in the women’s movement in the country. Many Women have been killed, others kidnapped and arrested, yet, women are marching daily in the ongoing protests of almost 120 days. Nadia will be talking about women’s role, activities and struggle, creating a new history in this country.
All are welcome.
