You changed my life

I am 23 years old, I diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2020. I had two operations to remove the tumour. I had nowhere to stay and at the same time there wasn’t any news from my immigration solicitor about my case.
I was referred to KMEWO and Sazan helped me. Since then I have been supported by them. For years, despite having a solicitor, I was told by my solicitor that he was following up on the case but not having an immigration interview. After KMEWO made enquiries, suddenly, I found out that I had actually been undocumented for years, and was encouraged to fill in a voluntary return form, to return back to my country by Migrant Help. I was devastated. I felt like my whole world came crashing down.
I had no income, and was undergoing treatment for cancer. I couldn’t go back home; I knew I would be killed. I had no place to call home here in the UK or back home. KMEWO helped me to find a new solicitor to make a fresh claim. Thanks to KMEWO and Southall Black Sisters who agreed to support me financially as well as secured an accommodation. I feel I am reborn. I could finally stay somewhere where I could call home.
Going through cancer, knowing I was undocumented and my living condition made me feel worthless and hopeless. I was terrified of being homeless. I was very depressed and everything had really affected my mental wellbeing. Your support gave me a new life and made me feel there is still hope and good people around to help people like me.
I am grateful for the support they gave me. I cannot find more words to thank you because you changed my life.
